- ‘Circular Seas,’ Coca-Cola’s coastal and seabed cleanup project, raising public awareness and promoting the circular economy, has awarded three scientific studies that propose solutions to marine debris in Spain.
- It has also awarded a startup working to reduce the use of single-use plastics through the manufacture of biodegradable packaging.
- The scientific studies will receive a grant of €5,400, and the startup will receive seed capital of €5,000, to contribute to the development of their projects.
Madrid, December 9, 2021. The scientific studies “Transformation of wet wipe waste from beaches into activated carbon. Applications as an example of the circular economy,” directed by Francisco Ignacio Franco Duro; “Malla OPS,” led by Rubén Escudero; and “Current situation of plastic litter in aquatic ecosystems linked to the Ebro River in Arguedas (Gateway to the Bardenas Reales Natural Park), Navarra,” directed by Fernando Gómez Velasco, have been selected as winners in the fourth edition of the “Mares Circulares” scientific study competition.
