> Biogas and biomethane experimentation

We have a laboratory equipped with more than 15 digesters, allowing us to conduct all kinds of exhaustive biogas experiments.

Some of the activities we do include

POTENTIAL

Biogas and methane generation potential from one or more substrates. This is carried out through batch biomethanogenic potential (BMP) tests, using digesters with a capacity of 1 to 6 L and operating in one stage.

Semi-continuous experimentation, using digesters with a capacity of 1 to 6 L, replicating the activity of an industrial plant: we achieve results that provide the information you need to understand the technological and economic viability of your substrates and make the best decisions.

Optimizing biogas production, whether with Smallops nanoparticles, increasing methane production by 20%, or with other types of additives. We are familiar with working with nanoparticles, bacteria, iron oxides, among others.

Technical service for digestate management in biogas plants
  1. Technical and personalized advice on legislation related to digestates and plant requirements to comply with it.
  2. Implementation of an environmentally friendly green technology as a post-treatment for digestate to convert it into a fertilizer and make it certifiable.
    • Study of the digestate, composition analysis, and design of the best technical solution to avoid it being classified as waste.
    • Design and conduct of laboratory tests to find the optimal solution for each plant.
    • Advice and industrial design of the process for implementation at the lowest possible cost in the plant. The investment in the type of technology offered by Smallops is minimal and can be amortized in 1-2 years by selling the treated digestate.
  3. Continuous monitoring of the treated digestate obtained and the implemented post-treatment to prevent and solve problems.

> Waste treatment with hydrothermal carbonization

With over five years of experience in the sector, we have perfected and optimized this technology for the treatment of various waste and byproducts such as vegetable waters and alperujos (a type of vegetable water), meat waste, wine waste, and more.

Hydrothermal carbonization is presented as a transformative way to convert low-value waste into highly beneficial products, thus generating significant added value and increasing their economic profitability. We exemplify this process with the production of biochar or hydrochar from these byproducts. This product not only stands out as a fertilizer, enhancing plant nutrient uptake and contributing to soil carbon sequestration, but also has a current market price of €500 per 1,000 liters.

This product stands out not only for its profitability in terms of sales, but also for its efficient production process. In situations where waste is naturally rich in carbon, carbon sequestration not only contributes to the final product but also enables the generation of additional income through the sale of carbon credits.

Hydrothermal carbonization not only represents an economic opportunity but also a sustainable strategy for transforming waste into valuable resources and contributing to environmental balance.
