Entrepreneurs Award for Innovation in the Agri-Food Sector: Smallops
This category aims to encourage business creation in the agri-food sector through technological and innovative entrepreneurship and to provide Spanish companies in this sector with new solutions that make them more competitive internationally. The award was presented by Ricardo García Lorenzo, director of Cajamar Innova and deputy director of Agri-Food Innovation at Cajamar, sponsor of this category for the fifth consecutive year. He noted that “innovation in the agri-food industry is experiencing great dynamism, which is why, for the past three years, we have launched other initiatives such as the creation of an incubator in collaboration with Incyde.” This year’s Entrepreneurs Award for Innovation in the Agri-Food Sector went to Smallops, a company that transforms oil waste into biogas and carbon-encased iron nanoparticles (OPS), which have multiple environmental applications, such as wastewater treatment and improving biogas production.
